1911 One Piece Guide Rod. I like the one piece full length guide rod with matching plug which have the hole in the shaft (rod) whereby with a l shaped wire (i make mine from paper clips) you simply compress the spring, insert pin to capture the spring tension, then remove guide rod, and plug as a captured unit. Along with the recoil spring it comes with, this guide rod is fast and easy to install, though a small modification of the slide is required.
It may require minor fitting to contact the frame evenly. This tungsten guide rod should be checked by a gunsmith familiar with the 1911 design. Machined from solid bar stock without through hole for extra strength and resistance to battering. The reverse plug is also far more reliable than stock. One advantage to a flgr is that it allows the pistol entire top end to be removed without first removing the barrel bushing.
My local smith did the wilsonize years ago.
You will have to drill a hole in the guide rod to insert a tactical paperclip to compress the recoil spring for removal of the whole assembly. 5 one piece guide rod: When i researched these i saw nothing but amazing reviews on the flat wire kit, so i had to try it! **recoil spring is not included.
